Care Instructions
A Lincolnshire Furniture piece is a fine bench made product. The care instructions below will help you maintain the furniture so you can enjoy it for many years.
In order to properly clean and maintain the furniture, we recommend that you follow the guidelines below:
Products & Finishes
Wood and lacquered pieces have been stained and/or polished to bring depth and beauty to each finish. Although most are protected with either a clear coat or wax, they are still susceptible to wear.
Environment
Maintain wood and lacquer by not placing near heaters, air conditioning units, or uninsulated exterior walls/windows to prevent over-drying or exposure to excessive moisture. Avoid extreme humidity changes in your home, as dry or humid air can cause wood to crack and lacquer to lift.
Surfaces
Avoid putting hot, cold, or moist objects directly on the wood/lacquer surface(s), or letting liquids stand on the furniture as they can cause rings and/or damage the piece. Rubber or plastic left on the wood finish can also damage the finish.
Cleaning
Care for your wood and lacquer pieces by dusting regularly with a soft cloth in the direction of the grain. If the piece requires further cleaning, use a dry or slightly damp (with water) soft cloth and a separate soft clean cloth to dry the piece.
Polishing
Polish with a dry soft cloth after cleaning. Do not use commercial, heavy duty polishes or waxes or silicone based products. Clean leaves/extensions before storing.
Tabletop Protection
Lincolnshire Furniture provides table pads with all of their dining tables. Use a table pad and/or place mats when using a dining table and remove them immediately after each use.
In using the table pads please follow these important instructions. Use the pads with the Duravel side contacting the tabletop and the vinyl side up. Make sure the Duravel side is completely clean before putting the pads on the table.
Do not use an adhesive lint roller, water, or liquid to clean the Duravel side; instead lightly brush the Duravel side with a soft, dry, bristle brush. Pads that get wet on the Duravel side may warp.
To clean the vinyl side use a damp cloth and a little dishwashing liquid (such as Dawn) if needed. Do not use household cleaners, disinfecting products especially those containing bleach, alcohol, or ammonia. Do not use hand sanitizer, abrasive pads, scrubbing sponges, or the like.
Although the table pads add excellent protection to the tabletop, to help prevent damage to the table top and/or table pads, we recommended using heat proof matts on the table pads when serving hot dishes/beverages.
Professional Cleaning, Touch-up, and Repair
We recommend that stained or soiled wood or lacquer pieces or fabric be professionally cleaned and/or refinished.
Metals
Never use cleaners with alcohols or solvents on metals. Only used fine cotton or extra soft cloths. We recommend that tarnished metals be professionally cleaned.
